Knife Making
During the summer of 2018 some friends and I decided to build knives together. I made three knives, all from 1084 steel. We made them entirely ourselves in our backyards, including heat treating and finishing. The handle scales are made of denim micarta, with brass and copper pins. The micarta was made by myself by layering old jeans and fiberglass resin and came out very nicely.

Furnace used to heat treat our knives. That torch was not used, instead a propane blowtorch was. Knives were heated to 1500° F and quenched in peanut oil. Tempering was done in a kitchen oven at 400° F.

Two of the knives after heat treating and final grinding. Behind is the grinder that did the majority of the work.
